A group, Patriotic Movement of Nigeria, has called on the judicial and administrative panels set up by some state governments to probe police brutality to demonstrate transparency in discharging their responsibilities.
The group also said it would support the agitation for the restructuring, fiscal federalism and devolution of power in Nigeria if its proponents knew how it would be achieved.
The PMN stated these in a communiqué signed by its President, Mallam Bello Abdulkadir, and issued after a meeting on the #EndSARS protest in Abuja.
The group further called for serious efforts at sensitising the citizens to the procedures and processes of protests and demonstrations as prescribed and guaranteed by the laws of the country, while ensuring enhanced training for law enforcement officers as to the acceptable rule of engagement when addressing citizens’ protests.
Also speaking, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, said he had foreseen the #EndSARS revolutionary protest as far back as 2016 because of the way the youth population had been neglected by the elite.
